    Steve Jobs Apple Logo

(NPR) - Steve Jobs — the man who brought us the iPhone, the iPod and the iMac — has died. The co-founder of Apple was 56 years old. Jobs had been battling a rare form of pancreatic cancer for years.

"It boggles the mind to think of all the things that Steve Jobs did," says Silicon Valley venture capitalist Roger McNamee, who worked with Jobs.

McNamee says that in addition to introducing us to desktop publishing and computer animated movies, Jobs should be credited with creating the first commercially successful computer.

"Any one of those would have qualified him as one of the great executives in American history," McNamee says, "the sum of which put him in a place where no one else has ever been before. To me he is of his era what Thomas Edison was to the beginning of the 20th century."

    3D Gaming Example

(DeviceMAG) - 3D, given its current popularity in cinema and television, does seem to be the next logical step in gaming. If you think this is os, you may want to think again!

Playr2 co-founder Simon Kilby thinks developers will have to be careful to tackle issues that the Nintendo 3DS seemed to raise with motion sickness and the like. Here is why: the games comparison and market place guru has conducted a survey which shows that 3D in gaming is not the favorite among masses.

    PSN Network Issue Screenshot

(CVG) - "Sony looking into the matter" - A number of users are reporting PlayStation Network sign-in issues, a problem Sony says it is aware of and looking into.

The unlucky gamers are receiving the error code 80710092 when attempting to sign-in.

It's unclear how widespread the problem is though. One affected user said other players using different consoles in the same room weren't experiencing similar problems, although they didn't specify whether they were playing on PS3 or another system.

    iPhone Comparison

(Ars Technica) - Apple announced the next iteration of its iPhone, the iPhone 4S, at an event today in Cupertino. The phone’s body and screen are virtually identical to the iPhone 4, though it receives some significant internal spec bumps and a virtual "intelligent assistant" named Siri. Like the iPad 2, the new iPhone 4S has a dual-core A5 chip clocked at 1GHz that is meant to deliver graphics up to seven times faster than the iPhone 4. Infinity Blade 2 was demonstrated on the handset; it's an iOS exclusive that will be available December 1. Another feature migrated from the iPad 2 is screen mirroring, which can be done with the iPhone 4S either via AirPlay on an Apple TV or through a wired connection. The new handset will carry the same retina display as its predecessor, and will no longer need separate GSM and CDMA models; instead, the handset will be a world phone, with both systems included.

(MTV Multiplayer) - If you're a big fan of Valve's Steam service and the "Battlefield" franchise, there's an awfully good chance you're less than pleased about the current rift between EA and Valve. "Battlefield 3" is not making appearance on Steam, but you're more than welcome to download the game from any number of other digital retailers – including EA's own Origin. Well, if you thought buying the PC version at a brick-and-mortar retailer or somewhere other than Origin meant you could avoid EA's service all together, I'm afraid that isn't the case.

    Intel Upgrade Service

(Geek.com) - You may remember in September last year Intel introduced the ability to upgrade some of its processors in software by purchasing a code. It sounded like a bizarre way to generate extra revenue to us, and meant an additional cost after purchase to upgrade your effectively crippled processor. Sales of these upgrade cards must have been significant though, as Intel has decided to introduce the same feature on some of its latest low-end Core and Pentium processors.
